Getting Your Book Published, From Proposal to Print

During this 2 day retreat you will learn a series of steps that will help you develop and pitch a successful book concept, give you insight into the process and cost structure for publishing a book with a publisher or via self publishing, provide an understanding of the language and terms in a publisher’s contract, review your responsibilities as an author, and describe possible pathways to promote your book before and after it has been published. Working with a will also be covered, as will ways to finance your book, the financial cost/reward and professional benefits for each method of publication.
Participants will be asked to bring a book proposal with them or to create one during the workshop. Each proposal reviewed individually!
Learn from Thomas Werner author of the book The Fashion Image, Bloomsbury Publishing, London, and Editor at Large for IRKmagazine, a Paris based fashion and culture magazine and web site. Thomas was recently contracted to write a second for Bloomsbury on fine art photography, and has reviewed a number of book proposals and books in progress for the publisher.
Thomas Werner is also an Assistant Professor and former Program Director at Parsons School of Design in New York, who has worked as a photographic consultant at COACH and Rodale Publishing, and successfully developed, produced, and promoted numerous international projects for partners such as The United Nations Alliance of Civilizations/UNESCO and the United States Department of State on an international basis.
Note: Photography, art, design, technology, media, digital media, academic texts, and other forms of nonfiction are welcome! Fiction will not be covered in this workshop.
