Retouching for Fine Art, Portraiture and Fashion
Cierra WAHLstrom
Spend a weekend learning from the one of the country’s leading retouchers. Work in small groups and one on one, acquire new skills, receive insight into Cierra’s creative process, and chat over lunch and dinner. Cierra Wahlstrom is one of New York’s leading retouchers, working closely with clients such as Philip-Lorca diCorcia, Sebastian Faena, Karen Collins, Alexi Lubomirski, Sean Donnola, and William Eggleston, among others. A Senior retoucher for New York based VS+Company, her work has been printed in numerous major publications including Vanity Fair, Allure, WSJ, Alla Carta, Esquire, and Vogue.
Over the past two years she has worked directly with William Eggleston overseeing the restoration and printing of his work for exhibitions in the David Zwirner gallery in New York and London. While her retouching experience includes everything from still life/ product photography, editorial/fashion photography, to fine art, she specializes in fashion and beauty, as well as fine art film restoration, retouching, and printing.
During the retreat Cierra will present her workflow, review retouching for fine art and commercial work, discuss specific processes for scanning and retouching film, and work with you as you retouch some of your own images. Photographers are asked to bring their own images to work on so that questions regarding their own process, challenges, and workflow can be answered.
